Safe Schools

Royal Roads P.S.

2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on safe relationships and being our authentic selves.

We are doing this to support students in being who they truly are and feeling safe from any forms of harassment. We want students to build and maintain positive and safe relationships; including online interactions. Our School Climate data, student voice, teacher input and greater school community have shared valuable information to support our goals. Identified areas include: online bullying, spreading rumours, threats and inappropriate comments, content and gestures.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Accessing and using School Mental Health Ontario resources (educators and parents)
  • Increased use of Social Emotional Learning resources
  • Facilitating assemblies to highlight character traits that support our goals
  • Partnership with School Community Counsellor to support peer interactions and conflicts
  • Parent engagement nights that address the identified areas

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about their relationships with peers and teachers. If there are challenges in those relationships, how can you support them?
  • Try stress relievers at home with your child. Help your child notice when they're feeling tired or upset (self-awareness) and teach them how to handle their emotions with activities like mindfulness, exercise, or listening to music (self-management). These social-emotional learning activities can be beneficial for adults too!
