Dress Code


The image of a Royal Roads student is one whose manner of dress reflects responsible personal judgement and a positive attitude toward school. This is consistent with our Code of Conduct. This Dress Code is reviewed and discussed each year with our School Council. Appropriate attire encourages a safe and respectful learning environment. The list below provides the general rules that will be followed by all students: 

  • Hats off and hoodies down are expected in the building
  • For sun safety students should have shirts that cover their shoulders
  • Bare midriffs are not permitted
  • Undergarments are not to be visible (including straps)
  • Shorts and shirts need to be mid-thigh length and pajama pants are not permitted
  • Revealing necklines, arm holes, low-riding pants, transparent materials, or spaghetti straps are not permitted
  • Running shoes must be worn in the gym
  • Messages on clothing with offensive or demeaning language or references to alcohol, drugs, or sexuality will not be permitted
  • Proper footwear will be worn at all times both in the school and on the playground;  bare feet and flip-flops (thongs) will not be allowed on the climbers
